Raksha Bandhan or Rakhi,is a festival primarily observed in India and other state also,which celebrates the relationship between brothers and sisters. The festival strengthens the bond of intimacy and love between brothers and sisters. The festival is observed by Hindus and Sikhs.The central ceremony involves the tying of a rakhi (Ryshmi dhaga or thread) by a sister on her brother’s wrist.
The festival falls on the full moon day of the Shravan month of the Hindu lunisolar in Hindu Panchang(Calender). It is also called Janai Purnima.
This festival depicts a sister’s love and prayers for her brother’s, and the brother’s lifelong oath to protect her.The festival is celebrated with the return of gifts by brothers and is celebrated all over the nation.
