Agra Fort
MONUMENTS OF INDIA – AGRA FORT
Agra Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Agra city in State of Uttar Pradesh (India). It is about 2.5 km northwest of its more famous monument, the Taj Mahal. The fort can be more accurately described as a walled city.
This Agra fort has also other places like Grape Garden, Diwan-i-Am, features black throne of Jehangir, Golden Pavilions, Jahangiri Mahal, Khas Mahal, Macchi Bhawan, Moti Masjid, Musamman Burj, Takht-i-Jahangir – Throne of Jahangir, Nagina Masjid (Gem Mosque), Naubat Khana, Rang Mahal, Shahi Burj, Shah Jahani Mahal.
Near the gardens of the Taj Mahal stands the important 16th-century Mughal monument known as the Red Fort of Agra. This powerful fortress of red sandstone encompasses, within its 2.5-km-long enclosure walls, the imperial city of the Mughal rulers. It comprises many fairy-tale palaces, such as the Jahangir Palace and the Khas Mahal, built by Shah Jahan; audience halls, such as the Diwan-i-Khas; and two very beautiful mosques.
